## When an opinion starts selecting facts

Having an expectation of a price rise or fall is normal. Confirmation bias shows up in the selective use of information: a trader notices arguments for the desired scenario and dismisses contradictions that matter for their strategy.

A loss, confidence in a direction, or not holding a position in the opposite direction does not prove bias. What needs to be checked are the actual arguments and how they influenced the decision.

## Example: one detail became decisive

Imagine that a trader sees a familiar zone and decides to buy. Then they review only those elements of analysis that support a rise, even though the rules also require checking the broader context. If the omitted check was mandatory, this can be established from the plan. The outcome of the trade alone does not provide such a conclusion.

## Approach 1: two sides of the analysis

Next to the arguments for the idea, write down the available facts against it. There is no need to invent two or three objections just for the sake of quantity. If no significant contradictions are found, that by itself is not a problem.

The weight of each factor depends on the strategy. One argument against does not always cancel a setup, just as one argument for does not make it sufficient.

## Approach 2: the condition under which you would change your mind

Before entering, determine which observable event would cancel the idea. This helps check whether the scenario can be falsified at all. When the condition occurs, compare the next action with the recorded plan.

Revising your view does not obligate you to open the opposite position. You can stay out of the market if there is no new valid signal.

## Review without the hint of the future

Keep the analysis made before entry. During review, ask: what was known then, which fact did I notice, how did I account for it? When replaying history, hide future prices.

You can track the share of evaluated decisions with a completed contradiction check. A missing record means uncertainty. Compare process quality and financial outcome separately: a correct check does not promise profit in every trade.
